As we discussed in class today, the United States of America has signed the treaty, but not agreed (ratified) to be part of the Convention on the Rights of a Child. Currently, it is the only country in the world that has not agreed to be part of the convention.

I don't think it's fair that Obama tried to ratify the convention but the Republicans stopped him.

I think it is unfair how kids can go to jail for their entire life for doing bad things in school. The CRC should be ratified because now grown men were in prison since they were six, but still haven't got out. They could've had a job and got married and be happy, but they were put in jail. If the CRC was ratified, they could do those things and have a good life. It is not too late to let them out.

Now that i read that it makes me worried. It would be very scary to be in juvenile. I hope that the U.S.A signs the contract.

I feel so bad because this kids were arrested from when they were young until they were grown-ups. Something that touched me in the article is that when the old man said that when he wakes up every morning he expecting to be released. What is even sadly is that the old man be arrested for 30-40 years. I feel sad that this kids had the worst and horrible life.

I think that kids should not be put in jail because they were drooling on the desk. Because in some countries kids are treated like adults which means that they get the same punishments as adults. So kids can be deprived of their family and their friends and be sent to jail for however long adults can be sentenced. In conclusion I don't think that kids should be put in jail for drooling on their desk because they shouldn't be deprived of their learning and family and friends.

I was crying about the article because it made "really sad". It is unfair that kids at such a young age get sent to prison for doing childish things. It is bad that the US is the only country that doesn't allow kids to have freedom. We should protect kids not punish them. Kids don't know that these things can get them in jail. The US's heart seems as small as my dogs paw "it isn't big" and it should get bigger and try to help all people #haveaheart

I feel sorry for all of those kids who have to be stuck in jail so long for normal things that kids do. Just because we didn't sign a paper people have to suffer. That is not fair.

This article makes me think that the Criminal Justice System in America is unfair to kids. In some states a child can go to jail for doodling on a desk. Other kids, like teenagers, can go to jail for life for killing somebody. Also, it is not safe for kids that are in actual jail. America is one of the three countries that didn’t agree on the Convention on the Rights of the Child. I thought America was better than this.

My teacher was reading this book called i have a right to be a child. She came across some word that was so meaningful to my ears and mind. We all are equal adults and children no one want to feel unprotected. I mean happiness, sharing we the children are all important if our government don't value our rights then that means there children is apart of this 😓😓
