In our most recent book discussion of The Revolution Of Evelyn Serrano, we discussed how a cop gave Senor Santiago a ticket for selling ices without a license because they could have been contaminated- even though he told the cop that he could not pay the ticket, for he did not have enough money to do so.
Do you think the cop would have given Senor Santiago a ticket if he were white or not Latino? Comment why or why not.

I think with senor Santiago would not have of got a ticket with he was white and he couldn't pay it, I think the cop would have give him a warning or something that he could do, instead of have him pay $ 700 ticket.

I think that the cop would have given senor Santiago a ticket even if he were white or not latino because you need a license to sell food or things to public and also the cop should have gave him a warning instead of a ticket. The cop maybe knew that senor Santiago can't pay the ticket because the neighborhood is so poor.

I think the cop would not have done it, because if he saw a white person handing out snow cones, he wouldn't really care. But cops back then were always trying to find something to give a colored person a ticket.

I think he would've got a ticket because it's illegal and the cop was very nice and didn't yell or result to violence.
